In 1922 the Republic of Cuba was one of the first countries in the Americas to have radio services. Today, the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television or ICRT is an organisation belonging to the Cuban State that is in charge of the administration of radio and television stations.
Radio Sagua, La Voz del Undoso, one of the stations managed by the ICRT, was born in 1983 in the city of Sagua la Grande and from the beginning was characterised by offering a varied programming to its listeners, with old phonographic records of great popular roots, and a large participation of amateurs of all artistic genres, singers, instrumentalists, declaimers and intellectuals.
For the last 30 years the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television has been a satisfied customer of AEQ technology both in the form of audiocodecs and mixing consoles, having for years now more than 170 AEQ OPERA analogue audio mixing consoles to equip as many radio studios throughout Cuba.
After digitalising all the stations in the country's capital with AEQ technology, the technical management of the ICRT has decided to extend the work to 10 regional stations using the AEQ FORUM IP console, also modular and with great features, but at a lower cost than the one used in the capital, and with the advantage of being able to connect via IP. Radio Sagua thus becomes the second station in the country to work with this digital technology after Radio Granma in Manzanillo.
AEQ FORUM IP SPLIT is a mixing console designed for ONAIR broadcast control. It incorporates all the basic features necessary in this type of environment: automatic monitor cut, cough cut, faderstart, signalling control, control signals for the automation of external equipment, external communications management, intercommunication, etc.
With its modular design and small size, AEQ FORUM adapts perfectly to different scenarios: self-control, control-locutory, TV production controls, sound production, mixed configurations, integration in large installations, etc. Simplicity and control power are combined in the AEQ FORUM IP console to cover both basic and advanced operation needs. The FORUM IP SPLIT version comes with the FR CORE modular engine in 3 rack units. It can be composed of up to 6 quad fader modules and a control and monitoring unit.
They can be equipped with AoIP multi-channel input and output cards compatible with the new AES67 protocol via DANTE™ technology. Through this connectivity, signals can be picked up and delivered to other consoles, routers, and other input and output terminal equipment from over 300 different manufacturers. It is also possible to choose MADI connectivity, and can be equipped with up to two internal digital telephone hybrids.
