Quicklink Studio (ST55) connects 80 countries during MTA International’s coverage of Jalsa Salana UK 2023.

MTA International, a globally broadcasted, non-profit satellite television network, have adopted Quicklink Studio (ST55) to incorporate over 100 communities from 80 countries into their live coverage of Jalsa Salana UK 2023.

Jalsa Salana UK, the annual convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, is a yearly event held in Hampshire, UK, in which MTA International hold exclusive live coverage across all MTA channels and online platforms. Attended by over 35,000 in-person participants and blessed by the presence of His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Jalsa Salana UK is watched by millions across MTA International’s channels with the intention of connecting all Ahmadiyya communities across the world.

“One of the first goals for MTA International was to involve as many countries as possible from across the world within our coverage of Jalsa Salana UK 2023. In 2022 we connected 60 communities, for 2023 we wanted to involve over 100 communities in the proceedings,” said Hanif Kahn, Programme Producer at MTA International.

MTA International needed a solution for introducing up to 100 remote guests in high-quality, low latency with different workflow and remote management options. Having used Skype TX for coverage of Jalsa Salana UK 2022, MTA anticipated several challenges due to the sheer number of connections involved, and required a solution that could return a program feed to all 100 locations to keep them engaged, whilst having the option to promote all the locations into the live program when required. With experience of incorporating many locations in 2022, another key requirement was the ability for operators to remotely manage the locations and provide talkback directly from the control room.

Utilizing Quicklink Studio (ST55) enabled MTA International to introduce over 100 communities worldwide into their Jalsa Jalana UK productions in high-quality with the highest level of remote management using the Quicklink Manager. With the remarkable accessibility options available in Quicklink Studio, MTA International’s producers could easily distribute invites to communities via SMS, WhatsApp, email or by generating a simple URL link, and have them easily join through a web browser on any device, with no apps or software installs needed.

Quicklink Studio (ST55) callers from four countries included in Jalsa Salana UK coverage

With Quicklink Studio (ST55) to connect and manage the remote guests, and Quicklink Studio Servers for professional outputs, twenty-two communities were simultaneously made available to the Director via HD-SDI into the Grass Valley Kahuna production switcher discretely in high-quality.

For graphics, Singular.live was used to add live overlays of the location and local time of each available country. To offer even further depth to the programming, MTA International used vMix to create additional caller tile outputs using Ingest URLs accessible from the Quicklink Manager – allowing MTA to integrate Quicklink Studio callers into a vMix production without requiring any additional hardware.

MTA International plan to implement Quicklink Studio (ST55) into their coverage of the 2024 edition of Jalsa Salana UK, and plan to further increase the 100 communities connected.
