Experts gather in Zagreb for flagship digital radio event on 14 November.

WorldDAB Summit 2024 will explore how DAB+ energises broadcast radio markets, offering listeners everything, everywhere, all the time. The flagship event brings together digital radio leaders and experts from around the world in Zagreb, Croatia on 14 November.

In a keynote session, WorldDAB President Jacqueline Bierhorst will join Luka Đurić, Vice President, AER – Association of European Radios and Director of the Croatian Radio Forum, and Edita Kudláčová, Head of Radio, European Broadcasting Union, to explore how society, listeners and broadcasters all benefit from securing radio’s digital future.

With the launch of life-saving Automatic Safety Alerts earlier in the year, Carsten Zorger of Digitalradio Büro Deutschland and Lindsay Cornell, Chair of WorldDAB’s Technical Committee, will look at how the critical system was successfully tested in the German “Warntag” national warning day in September.

Meanwhile in Switzerland, the public broadcaster SRG SSR will switch off its FM broadcasts by the end of this year. Adriano Pitteri, Program Manager Broadcast Distribution, SRG SSR will explain how this is being managed. And from France, Hervé Godechot will discuss regulator Arcom’s recent White Paper on Radio, and its proposal to move to predominantly digital broadcasting by the end of 2033, and the rapid growth of DAB+ across France.

Tomas Granryd, Coordinator, The EBU Connected Cars Playbook, joins a panel uniting experts from the automotive and broadcasting industries to examine how they are collaborating to ensure drivers have seamless access to broadcast radio.

Hosting the day is Aradhna Tayal Leach, Managing Director of the UK Radio Academy, and Director of Radio TechCon, the UK’s audio and radio technology conference. The Summit is an annual event organised by WorldDAB, the global industry forum for DAB digital radio, and this year takes place in person at Hilton Garden Inn Zagreb – Radnicka, with registration now open on the WorldDAB website. Video of the sessions will be available shortly after the event on the WorldDAB website.

Bernie O’Neill, Project Director of WorldDAB, said: “With switchover on the way in Switzerland and Schleswig-Holstein, and the launch of Automatic Safety Alerts, it’s the perfect time to bring together all parts of the DAB+ community, from broadcasters and regulators to automotive and equipment manufacturers. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone in Zagreb for an exciting and informative day.”
