WorldDAB Automotive 2025 puts Broadcast First!

• Unique annual event unites broadcast and automotive sectors
• 2025 edition reflects DAB+ momentum around the globe in Iberia, France, Australia and more

WorldDAB – the global industry forum for DAB+ digital radio – will be showcasing how broadcast digital radio remains vital in-car, as its unique annual WorldDAB Automotive event comes to Madrid, Spain on 19 June.

Broadcast First! is the theme for the 2025 edition, which offers unparalleled opportunities for industry professionals to gain valuable insights into the latest developments in DAB+ digital broadcast radio technology for the automotive sector. In the host country of Spain, the public broadcaster RTVE launched DAB+ last year, and RNE's digital radio broadcasts are now available in 15 Spanish cities. It is estimated that there are already more than 4 million cars with DAB+ receivers on the road across the country.

Keynote speakers at the event include Javier Sanchez, Director of the Audiovisual Policy and Public Service Department at RTVE and Jaume Pujol, Strategic Growth Opportunities, Cellnex Telecom, on stage alongside WorldDAB President Jacqueline Bierhorst, who will open the event. Automotive sector leaders include Frank Nowack, Function Owner Broadcast Radio for Ford Motor Company.

Lizzie Young, CEO, Commercial Radio & Audio, Australia will explore keeping audio free, local and accessible; while a session on how French-speaking markets are driving digital radio will feature Charles-Emmanuel Bon, Secretary General, Radio France and Adriano Pitteri, Project Manager, SRG SSR. Reflecting the momentum of broadcast digital radio, Tomas Granryd, Coordinator for the EBU Connected Car Playbook will look at how it advocates for radio to remain a central feature in the car's infotainment system.

Chris Gould, VP, All in Media and Gereon Joachim, VP of Automotive Sales and Strategy, EMEA for Xperi will be discussing how connected cars are playing a crucial role in the adoption and success of DAB+ across Europe, offering valuable insights into the evolving digital radio landscape. Meanwhile, Laurence Harrison, Chief Partnerships Officer, Radioplayer will explore how broadcasters are creating smooth transitions between DAB+ and app-based listening, designing driver-friendly experiences, and shaping the future of hybrid radio.
