Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (CRTVE) acquires 427 AEQ audiocodecs for its contribution circuits.

AEQ has won the tender for the IP Audiocodec Renewal Project and is supplying 257 stationary Venus 4+ and 170 portable Phoenix ALIOs.

The use of ISDN lines has been part of CRTVE's day-to-day connections until now. However, the technological revolution brought about by the rise of IP voice communications has meant that the current telephone exchanges, which use traditional 'copper' cabling, are being replaced by new ones based on fibre optic connections. This change is having a major impact on ISDN lines and is leading to their imminent disappearance.

To adapt to this change, the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (CRTVE) launched a public tender to replace all its contribution audiocodecs incompatible with IP connectivity.

The dossier covered the acquisition of the audiocodecs needed to cover the news needs of RNE and TVE. The stationary equipment is being installed only at CRTVE's headquarters and the portable equipment is deployed at institutional headquarters, sports venues and outdoor broadcasts.

For stationary, AEQ has been awarded with the recent Phoenix Venus 4+ model, for portable, the approved equipment is the Phoenix Alio. Both are managed by the Phoenix Control Multicodec application.

With this supply, AEQ confirms its privileged position in the Spanish radio and television communications market, while consolidating the references of use of the Phoenix family of audiocodecs by leading broadcasters in different countries around the world.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SUPPLIED EQUIPMENT

Phoenix Venus 4+

It is a full duplex stereo IP audiocodec with local analogue, digital and AoIP Dante/AES67 connectivity in a carrier grade design that guarantees high availability and audio quality.

With very unique features, such as:

• Three IP network ports, so you can physically separate the control network, remote codec traffic and local IP audio.

• Dual continuous data channels, one for each connection.

• Up to four power supplies, two AC and two DC at 48 volts.

• Local user interface, parallel to the software remote control, in particular for call launch and Preset activation, access to numerous equipment configuration options, and display of the vumeters.

Phoenix Alio

This is a Portable IP Audiocoder with 4 mic inputs or 3 mics and a stereo line, bass and treble control on all inputs, two pairs of headphones and a stereo line output, designed for tough outdoor work, shock and splash resistant.

Among its unique features are worth mentioning:

• Remote control of all equipment functions by software for retransmissions without moving the technician. HELP function for requesting help from the remote technician.

• Option, incorporated in the CRTVE supply, of a second two-way mono or stereo circuit, allowing an additional circuit to be established for coordination when a technician is sent to the event.

• Bass and treble control on all inputs.

Εφαρμογή Phoenix Control Multicodec

Among other functions, it can detect all AEQ IP audiocodecs in a local network to control them in a coordinated way from a PC or group of PCs. It also allows remote equipment to be controlled through the Internet, favouring an integral management of the communications network. From a single window you will be able to visualise the general summary status of all the codecs in the system.

It is also possible to manage a joint connection database and exchange this data with the connection databases of the codecs and their presets.

It also generates VU meters with the input and output audio levels of each codec, and in the case of PHOENIX ALIO it manages the audio mixer exclusively or in parallel or with the front panel.
